Scanning Tips

To help us achieve the best possible results, we have put together a short guide with some tips to ensuring the file you send to us is as high a quality as possible. If you still need help, you can always contact us for further advice.

You’ll be amazed at how your photographs come to life!

1. Keep It Clean!

The first step to scanning is making sure the glass on your scanner is clean and free from dust or smears.

Just as important is to make sure that your photograph, or negative, is also free from dust.

Once everything is squeaky clean, you’re ready for the next step!

2. Computer Doesn’t Know Best

Most scanning software has built in restoration, and image enhancement features.

Don’t trust the computer! These auto features just aren’t as good as the real thing!

Make sure you switch off all of these features before scanning, and we’ll give it the human touch.

3. Scan And Deliver

For best results, scan at a minimum of 600 dpi, but we prefer 1200 dpi wherever possible.

We accept your images in a number of formats: jpg, eps, tif, or psd.

If you are saving as a jpg, make sure that you save at maximum quality.
